Can I set the background color of an embedded flash
animation to transparent like with images thru PPT XP . If
not can it be done when the flash is created? I want the
flash to appear over my background images.

Thanks.

I don't do Flash, so I can't tell you how, but you'll have to try it there,
because it isn't going to happen in PowerPoint. PowerPoint will only take
what you feed it. Flash is not an image in the eyes of PowerPoint.

Unfortunately you can't set the background to transparent.
Flash, as Sonia says, is not treated as an image, so you can't use image
tools on it.
And, sadly, the transparent WMODE setting that a Flash file can contain,
which allows Flash to have a transparent background in IE and many Windows
applications such as Director, is not recognised in PP.
The upshot is that you'd have to have your slide background on the Flash to
create the desired effect..
