Hi,

We have a Windows 95B machine trying to print a 1,700kb powerpoint file to
a HP 650C plotter. The workstation has the latest 650C drivers.
Powerpoint version 97. The file has quite a few graphics (bitmap as well
as scanned in images)in it, and is a total of 30 pages. Every time we try
to print this file to the 650c, it does not print out properly, or gets
hung in the queue or prints only 3 or 4 of the slides. When we print the
file to a 750c printer, it prints fine. The 650c printer has a total of
20MB RAM so memory should not be an issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I'm afraid I'm totally unfamiliar with both these devices. Are they
PostScript driven or otherwise? Are the output resolutions the same on
both? Same output sizes?

Off top of head, I'd watch your disk space when you print. It might be
that you're running out of spool space on your Windows drive (which is
where Win95 insists on putting the spool files). If that's the problem,
there may be a Direct to printer, don't spool option in the printer driver
setup (start, settings, printers, etc) that would help. Return to app will
be slower, but it might get the job done.

Constance,

Whenever I experience a problem like this in the past, I'd
simply slow it down by printing pages 1-5, then pages 6-10, then
11-15, etc. I used to have this problem with a Tektronix Thermal Wax
Printer for overhead transparencies. It didn't have the memory to
handle all of the pages at once and my hard drive was too small to
spool them all.

Hope this helps,
George
