I'm creating a presentation that will be viewed in a hotel
ballroom/conference room that seats 100. Is there a rule
of thumb for how small the font size can be and still be
readable?
Thanks!

Fay,

There's lots of variables (how big is the screen, how near are the seats, is
the projector focussed, bright enough, will the lights be on, etc etc,)
There's lots of rules also (KISS, Keep It Simply Stupid, 4 words per bullet,
4 bullets per slide, 6 words per bullets, 6 bullets per slide).

A simple rule is...don't put too much info on one slides/screen, if you can
split the info onto several slides then do so. Get the text as big as it can
be without it looking stupid.

Cheers

How far away is the furthest audience member? How big is the screen?

What I do is put the slide in show mode on my monitor, then slide my chair
back as far as I can get in my office. What can I read from there. That
might be roughly equivalent to an audience member in a conference room.
