Does anyone know if powerpoint will allow you to take one
slide, for example, and blow the image up and print it on
4 or 8 sheet of paper so that the image can be pasted on a
wall as a poster size image?

If your printer supports 4x8 sheets of paper, simply set your slide
proportion to 1x2 in PPT's page setup and then when you print select "scale
to fit paper." Otherwise you need to look at programs that will do tiling.
