Is there a way to automatically close a slide show after
the last slide without having to press ESC?

Assign a transition setting to the last slide that causes it to advance
after XX seconds. The show will close when time runs out.

To add a twist to that most excellent idea for the user, <g> the End With
Black Slide option can be turned off (Tools>Options) so the show exits
instead of advancing to a black screen.

But remember that is a user setting, not a setting in the presentation,
unfortunately.

Yep, good point. I had to deal with that just a few hours ago. Before the
prez, I had to check the option settings on a conference room machine
because it was critical.
