I'll try this again. I'm doing some french inpowerpoint
but am having a hard time finding all the accents that I
need. Using a french canadian keyboard I can get accents
above e's no problem (é, è) but cannot get a circonflex or
a cédille. I've tried using ALT keycodes, but I think
these are just for Word and I don't want to have to do 195
slides in word and import all the text boxes. Surely there
must be an easire way to do this!!!

Thanks.

Hi Dave,
Looking at my Monotype Composite Character, it refers to
'circumflex' which shold be created by typing: option i+e

ALT codes work pretty much in any application, not just word.

You could also use AutoCorrect to convert the "acircumflex" or just "acirc"
that you type into the character you need.

Some clown stole our Option keys, though. That's why they make us hang out
here in the Windows PPT group instead of the Mac crowd. <g>

The Alt+xxxx also works in PowerPoint. You might want to create some Autocorrect
function, that automatically transpose your foreign Characters for example 'e
could be used for è (Alt+0232) and e' could be used for é (Alt+0233)

Open the Character Map application concurrently with Powerpoint to the font
you are using -- choose the accented character you want through that, select
and then copy in Character Map and then paste into your typing in Powerpoint
-- maybe not the quickest but it works!!!

Ah, I like that ... ^e for circumfection and so on. Neat.
Now if I could just figure out how to DO Alt key combos on this #$#@*&^*
laptop keyboard.
FN + embedded numberpad keys gives me numbers; you'd think ALT + FN +
numberpad would ... but nooooooooooooooo......

Wow. Never thought of this, but I wonder if you can register domain names
that look like Donald Duck on a bad Huey/Dewey/Louie day?

Outlook seems to be able to handle @ signs either on their own or when
they're on the @ttack end of a word or even spl@ on the end of one. But if
you spl@tter one in the middle of a word, it thinks it's an email address.
No m@tter that there's no legible domain there ... no period, no "com",
"gov", "edu" or whatever.

Dumb parsing routines, I guess. We call that a bug where I come from. <g>

What's that they say about "anything sufficiently advanced technologically
is indistinguishable from magic"? Something like that.

They need one of those sayings for these kinda features.

Anything features that're sufficiently annoying (and that can't be disabled)
are indistinguishable from bugs.

In support of which, I offer Exhibit A: Clippie, a la Office 97. ;-)
