Windows 2000, PT2002. I have written a small VB program to exercise running
a presentation in a window. This is based upon someone's example (Chirag or
Shyam I think). What I have been asked is if I can run two presentations
simultaneously. So, I threw another frame on my VB form, opened another
presentation and set it in that frame. I run the program, both presentations
start, get stuck in the correct windows(frames). Not quite success though.
Only one will advance and actually show. It is the last one opened. I
guess it has the focus and we all know how much Powerpoint likes to be the
focus! Does anyone have any ideas how I might be able to get around this?
I have the option of using the viewer or PPT 2002. One thing I thought of
was using the viewer for one and PPT 2002 for the other but it is not an
optimal solution (lose 2002 stuff).

Oh well, just thought I would ask.

Thanks, Mike.

I have tried Chirag's PowerShow. However, I can't get the two windows to
show side by side AND both run at the same time. When I set the slide shows
for "Browsed at kiosk" or "By speaker" they look good (side by side) but
only one plays. If I set to "By individual" then the windows are on top of
each other. Any suggestions?

Mike:

Would you be able please to tell me how you open two
powerpoint windows simultaneously. I have been trying to
just open two instances of powerpoint at the same time so
I can copy and paste from one into another. I am amazed
at how unfriendly this is. I appreciate your help. Bruce

Hi Mike,

You want both the slide show windows side-by-side on the same monitor? With
PowerShow, you would be able to run multiple slide shows simultaneously with
each slide show on a different monitor. Let me know if this didn't work.

I'm sorry Chirag. I meant ShowPlus not PowerShow. "ShowPlus addin allows
you to view two slide shows side-by-side on a single monitor." That is what
I am trying to get working. Thanks.

Bruce, you can't open two instances of Powerpoint at the same time.
Powerpoint is a single instance application. What I and others have done is
instantiate a single instance of Powerpoint and opened two presentations.
What I am having trouble with is getting both presentations to actually run
(advance slides) at the same time. We do this from within Visual Basic or
C++. You can use the Powerpoint GUI and open multiple presentations also.
Then you can copy slides (or whatever) from one presentation, use the Window
menu item to go to other presentation and paste the copied items there.
This shouldn't be too difficult so if you have more questions reply with
further detail.

ShowPlus has been updated and version 1.2 has been uploaded. When PowerShow
is loaded in PowerPoint, ShowPlus would now run both the slide shows
simultaneously on the same monitor.
