Hi,
I looking at buying the compact flash expansion pack plus and was
just wondering how the battery is recharged. Is done via the standard
cradle or separately?? Anything else I need to know before buying?

Thanks......

It can be recharged when you dock your iPAQ with it on. Or you can buy an
optional cradle just for it, and keep a charge battery in it. My
understanding, (no first hand experience) is only the battery will dock with
this optional cradle. I always charge mine with the iPAQ, when I dock it.

Additional info check out www.pocketnow.com or www.brighthand.com for
additional info on this unit, with a 38xx many users are reporting problems.
I have a 3870, and it has work for me for 2 months, with no signs of the
reported problems.

You wouldn't happen to know what happens when the battery in the pack
dies, would you? I am new to iPaq and mine seems to drain the battery in the
pack first. I have a fear that if it dies I will no longer be able to access
the CF card. Since I got it to transmit digital pictures from CF cards, this
would be sort of tragic :-)

You can still access the card even after the battery dies. In fact, The
unit comes with an extra back so you can use the sleeve without the battery,
and use it just to add the CF card slot. I Love my CF+ sled. No problems
with it on my 3835.

This is the way it is suppose to work. Should drain to 10% on a 3800 then
switch to the main battery which should still be in the upper 95% range.
Then it will begin draining the main battery. You should get one warning at
40% and another at 10% if you don't switch your unit off. Anytime you turn
it on with the CF+ battery less than 40% will also get you a warning. Also
the CF+ unlike the PCMCIA + will work without a battery at all, in it.
