I'm trying to install the Microsoft Windows SDK for Pocket PC 2002 along with
the Embedded Tools 3.0. The Tools suite installed okay, but the SDK doesn't.
It gets as far as "Status: Registering Platform Manager components", but it
hangs there. I'm running WinXP SP2 on a 2.4GHz Pentium4. Any ideas?

I'd do the normal things... Restart and retry, try it in Safe Mode,
uninstall and retry... etc.

Good advice, but I don't suggest installing software in Safe Mode since in
worst-case scenario it can cause Windows problems, maybe even not to boot
(because Windows File Protection is not active in Safe Mode).

The step "Registering Platform Manager components" is trying to install
device drivers (for the emulator).

Be sure to disable any antivirus software you may have installed before
installing new software package.

To test this problem outside of the SDK Setup package, try installing the
updated emulator engine version 4.2 from:
"Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2 Device Emulator"
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads
This works with eVC 3.0 and Pocket PC 2002 SDK (and resolves a 2002 emulator
crash problem, supposedly related to bad display or audio driver). Hmmm ...
looks like it was replaced with the CE 5.0 Emulator:
