I'm having to build a new system for development as my 'old' machine has
become unstable. I have several apps I have to maintain using VC++ 6.0 (and
actually I still prefer it over 2005). I have a number of disks from my old
MSDN libraries, the question I have is, although the MSDN Library itself
clearly states which is the latest that will work with VC++ 6.0, I don't
know what is the latest verison of the platformSDK that I can use with VC++
6.0. Anybody know this?

Alternativly, if I knew how to determine what version is on my old system, I
would know what I want on my new one.

Thanks!

February 2003 SDK is the latest version compatible with VC 6.0.

OK, Downloaded, unpacked into a directory as instructed, when I run
Setup.exe, it opens Internet Explorer directed to Default.html in the same
directory, which uses an ActiveX control that gets shut down by "Windows
Data Execution Prevention".

I excluded IE from Win Data Execution Prevention, but it didn't help.

So, either IE 8 is not compatible, there is something corrupt in the
download, or I have a virus or something that AVG anti-virus doesn't know
about.

So now how do I install it?

I 'fixed' the probelm by uninstalling IE8.0. Under IE6.0 it worked fine.

Microsoft broke their own software, surprise surprise.
