Modify BITS parameters (listed in GPEDIT.msc ) programmatically

Hi,
I have a requirement to modify BITS parameters (listed in GPEDIT.msc )
programmatically. I have found that these parameters in GPedit have
corresponding Registry entries which can be modified and BITS service
can be restarted to force it to use the modified registry values. But
this leads to the issue that when the registry entiries are modified,
when a user opens GPedit.msc the user sees a different value although
BITS service uses the modified registry values.
If any one knows of a programmatic method of setting the BITS
parameters in GPEdit.msc, please provide any pointers/ideas.
