Hi, my question is in regards to data1.cab files being included in a msi
file. I am trying to patch (major upgrade patch) a msi project that is a
network image msi file (IS Dev 7.02 terminology) with all files compressed.
However, when I run the patch I get error 2356, data1.cab (Couldn't locate
cabinet in stream: [data1.cab]). When I look at the installshield help it
says "If you choose a Network Image media type and "Compress all files", all
your data files will be compressed into Setup.exe or your .msi database,
depending on whether you include the Setup.exe installation launcher". I
don't see any mention of data1.cab (which it does talk for the CD_ROM media
type). So why is Windows Installer looking for data1.cab?? Even if my
original msi file did have a data1.cab, the Microsoft Windows Installer help
says "To conserve disk space, the installer removes any cabinets embedded in
the .msi file before caching the installation package on the user's
computer." So how could the patch ever find data1.cab on the user's
machine?

Would someone please help me? I have been trying to get this major upgrade
patch to work for about 2 weeks and I am out of ideas!

Thank you,
Merri
