I am preparing a MSI package using Visual Studio Installer
1.1 fro a VB 6 SP5 application.

Everything installs OK on all operating systems except
XP. I get the following message:

Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows
Installer package. A DLL required for this install
to complete could not be run. Contact your support
personnel or package vendor.

I saw a few others posts and log what was happening. I
see where the error has occurred, but I am unable to tell
what is causing the error on XP.

If anyone could help in trouble shooting this problem I
would greatly appreciate it. I donot want to post the log
file here since the log is kinda big. I can send it to
anyone if they would like to see it.

Thanks in advance
Tom

Are you doing anything with self-registering COM servers? VB6 apps require the VB6 runtime, and I
don't believe it's part of any OS.

Thanks for your reply.

We are not doing any self-registering of COM servers.

I am a little confused about the VB6 runtime question.
Does the installer require the runtime file to be in
place before the installation of an application?

I am getting the Error 1723 when I am running the
installation package.

Would seeing the log file help?

Post the verbose log from a /l*v, that is a good idea yes.
