We are getting this error when accessing our COM+ package in
production:
"006 ~ ASP 0177 ~ Server.CreateObject Failed ~ Object server is
stopping when OLE service contacts it". We tried the following:

1. Check logs - we checked all available logs and found no other
information
2. Stopped Package - We tried to stop the package, but we received
the same error as above as a message pop-up in Component Services.
3. Stopped IIS - We fully stopped and started IIS. This did not
resolve the issue.
4. Reboot - We rebooted the server and this resolved the issue.

This happened for the first time on this server and we've never seen
it before in testing or production. I've seen some postings but no
one reported an issue. Did anyone experience this before and what was
the resulution?

If that means anything we are Win2K SP3, MDAC 2.6, VB6, COM+, Oracle
backend, MSDAORA, ASP, IIS.

I am experiencing the same problem. I'm still trying to figure this one out
but I 'fix' it as follows:

- lauch Task Manger and select 'Processes' tab.
- click on 'Image Name' column to sort by image name.
- highlight DLLHOST.EXE processes and click 'End Process' button.
- do this for all DLLHOST.EXE processes - one cannot be killed, I think
that's the one for IIS.
- restart IIS.
- users must refresh page and should then be able to contine.

I had all my components setup in COM+ but I was having this problem like
crazy. I slowly migrated all of them out expect one. That one was a
COMTI-generated tlb that uses HIS to access our IBM mainframe. It hangs
with the above problem every 2 or 3 days. I'm looking for guidance as to
what I've done wrong or how I can run the COMTI-generated tlb outside of
COM+.

My real email is chris....@hp.com.

Thanks.
