I'm having a weird problem with receiving an attachment sent from my wife's
computer using Outlook 2007 and running Win7. I'm running XP SP3 and
Outlook Express 6.

When she sends my an email with a 1.1 mb jpg file attached I receive the
email but no attachment. If I go to my laptop running Win7 and Outlook 2007
I receive the message including the attachment.

I might also add that she has sent the message from both her Earthlink
account and her Comcast account and to both my Earthlink and Comcast
accounts.

Any ideas?

Thanks

If she is using Outlook's Rich Text Format (RTF) to compose the message,
OE, and many other e-mail clients, cant understand it and will never see
the attachment. Have her use plain text. I believe the HTML format will
work too, but definitely not RTF.

If the mail was sent from Outlook using Outlook's RTF format then Outlook
Express will never find the attachment. Outlook Express does not understand
Outlook's RTF format. The Outlook user needs to use Plain Text,
especially when sending attachments.

That was the problem. When I changed it to plain text it came through fine.
It wasn't sending in RTF but it was sending HTML. For whatever reason the
attachment doesn't come through when HTML is selected.

When I open the message sent in plain text format the text appears normally
but the attachment is displayed under the text. It's very large and you
can't possibly see it all on one page. If I open the attachment it displays
fine. Is there a way to keep the attachment from displaying in the message
text box?

Thanks

OE and most other e-mail clients display a copy of image attachments after
the text of a message. All you can do is either set to read in plain text,
or in Tools | Options | Security. Check: "Block
images.....................".
