Can you access the individual messages? They are .eml files and can be
dragged into an OE local folder.

Yes, Bruce, they were saved as WinMail folders. I just looked at I see many
.eml files. I'll drag them over and see what happens. -- Only the Inbox
files were in .eml format. All my local folders (by subject) on has one file
in each folder - and that is winmail.fol showing 1kb file size.

How do I convert the winmail.fol back into OE readable files? That's my big
concern now, as those are some important emails that I really need.

Thanks very much for your help!
Jim

Perhaps the experts in the Windows Mail group can help you better. Many of
us, myself included, have never used Windows Mail.

Windows Vista Mail Newsgroup.

I was able to drag all of the .eml files into my Inbox folder and they work.
All my local folders (by subject) were backed up to my data drive. Each
folder has only one file in it - winmail.fol. How do I get those converted
over into OE?

Sorry for the lousy typing in the previous response. Maybe this will clarify
what has happened.

Again, thanks!
Jim

Bruce, thanks, I've already posted in the Vista WindowsMail section and have
received no replies.

Explain how your files got to your data drive.
In your original post, you said the folders were exported. Now, you are
saying backed up.
Winmail.fol is a Windows Mail file and does not contain any email messages.

Ron, I exported, i.e. backed up my windowsmail folders while running Vista.
Reformated my drive and installed XP Pro. Backed up and exported are the
SAME!

Bruce, I've been able to get just about all of the emails over into OE.
Whenever I would click on the backed up folders - there would be the .eml
files. They were not there last night!! Drug them over into the appropriate
folders in OE and viola! Gott'em back!

Thank you very much for the suggestion.
