I had set up a rule to highlite a message with a color when
it hits the inbox. Now my wife has decided she wants all
of the previously received messages to be black. Google
returned nothing useful.
Can this be done? If so, how do I do it?
OE 6.00
Thanks,
Fred

I know of at least one way. There may be an easier way, but this isn't too
bad.

First, remove or uncheck the message rule.

Next, hoping there are not too many folders involved, create a Windows
folder on the Desktop.

Open the folder in OE and highlight all the colored messages. Drag them to
the Windows folder. (They will still remain in OE).

Create a new folder in OE.

Open the Windows folder on the Desktop and drag all the messages into the
new OE folder. The headers should be in black now.

Either use this new folder, or delete the originals and drag these back into
the folder they came from.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately she has several dozen folders.
I may have to resort to your method unless someone has a better one.

I hope someone does, but if not, the Windows desktop folder can be reused.
Just delete the contents after each successful transfer.

Fred <bo...@invalid.com> typed:
Look up OEQuotefx and install it. It'll color code levels of responses in
different colors plus allow you to start your quote at the bottom of the
e-mail and other things. Very handy.
It attaches itself to OE and and works automatically when you start OE.

Just change the message rules to set the color to the default (black)
instead of whatever color she had, and then apply those message rules and
the color will go away.

Or as Bruce suggested, just copy all the messages to another folder and then
back again (compact afterwards) and the colors will be gone.

Thanks. This sounds much easier than copying several dozen
folders.
