Keep in mind that what I list may not be real problems, but could be
just that I haven't figured out a solution.
Windows Live Mail
1) I couldn't get photos to show inline. There's a thumbnail and
clicking on it takes you to a website, Microsoft Skydrive.
2) While trying to download messages, either at startup or by clicking
the appropriate icon, I don't recall seeing any progress bar so I didn't
know how long to wait.
It's been three weeks since I used it and that's all I can remember
right now.
Thunderbird
1) When looking at the inbox message list, clicking Reply without
opening the message does not mark the message as read.
2) If a message is opened and Reply or Forward is clicked, another
window opens in which you do the typing. So I have to close that
original window in addition to composing the reply and sending.
3) In OE I used the preview pane for Newsgroups but not for mail. In TB
it seems to be both or none.
4) When typing an e-mail reply, suddenly for no apparent reason the font
will get smaller. It seems to always happen when I go back to add
something or correct an error, but sometimes happens while I am typing.
Doesn't seem to happen on a new messsage.
5) Can't figure out the address book. There's boxes for first and last
name, display name and nickname. I don't know what any of them do except
the display name. That seems to be the one to display on the message and
the way it's listed in the address book. For example, I have a first and
last name of John Doe. If I want to see it listed in the address book as
Doe, John, I need to type that into the display name box. I'd like to
keep that directory style listing in the book, but show John in the
message header. If I type John into the display name box, then the
address book will show only John, listed under J. There is no apparent
difference in anything I see between leaving first and last names blank
and filling them in.
6) A lot of the choices under Tools>>Options are unclear, but that could
just be my ignorance.
The Live Mail photo thing was a major problem for me, but as I
mentioned, these TB things are annoyances. However, none of them
occurred with OE.
