I have 5 email addresses configured to send/receive mail in Outlook 2000.
Usually I click
send/receive and a dialog box opens that shows me each account as it sends
and receives. As of this morning it stopped sending and receiving. If I
click S/R the dialog box says checking 0 of 0.
If I try to compose a new message I get the following error:
"Cannot create the e-mail message because a location to send and receive
messages could not be found. To add a location, click the Tools menu, click
Services, and then click the Delivery tab"
Unfortunately I don't have a 'Services' option, I have 'Accounts'.

If I go to Tools/Accounts, I see all the accounts still there.
If I try opening a message and forwarding the email I get the following
error:
"The message interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook."

I've tried re-installing Outlook 2000, I've tried Windows updates, I've
rebooted a number of times, but to no avail...
(and yes, my DSL is definitely up and running. I can access the internet
just fine)
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you,
Sara

Hi Sara,

Try starting Outlook 2000 1 time with the /Cleanprofile command line switch.
Quit Outlook and then restart it. You might have to import your items from
your old pst to the new.

* Start Outlook and any errors you get dismiss them.
* Select View | Folder List
* For the folders labeled Personal Folders
- Right click on folder and select properties
- Select advanced
- jot down the path/filename information
* OK back out and quit Outlook
* Select Start | Run
* Put "outlook.exe /cleanprofile" in the textbox (don't type the quotes.)
* Outlook will startup, but I want you to immediately quit
* Restart Outlook
* If you do not see any of your messages in the inbox, contacts, etc. then
select
File | Import and Export | Import from another program or file | Personal
Folders
* Use the wizard and import the PST file noted above.
* If all looks good, quit Outlook and delete the PST file noted above.
* Start Outlook... still looking good?
* If yes, purge your deleted item folder or keep it around for prosperity.
