When I copy information to a .pst file, the copying freezes at a little over
2gigabytes (about 2.1 gigs). The drive is not full, plenty of room, and
i've tried this with many source and destination folders/messages... Does
ANYONE have any idea what may be causing this? I've tried the large table
option, but that didn't seem to work either... ideas?

Please e-mail me if at all possible...

PST files were designed not to exceed 2GB in size. Once they reach this
point, the file is considered corrupt and the data lost. (See MSKB article
Q266709 for more information.)

Very interesting... seems odd that the 2gb limit is there... Anyone else
have a suggestion as to another method of backing up public folders?
Basically, what I'm doing is copying a public folder every week to a .pst
file (as of right now)... Each Public Folder ranges anywhere from 1.5-6
gigabytes in size and contains about 300 folders. How would you suggest I
back those files up?

Right now I copy the folder till it hits 2gb's then i delete the last group
that didn't make it all the way into the 2gb size limit,
then, the time consuming part... I copy EACH subfolder one by one into a
second .pst file. as im sure you understand, this is very time-consuming...
any ideas?

Personal Folders Files Located on Your Computer
One or more .pst files can reside on each user's computer. A .pst can be
defined as your primary store or as a secondary store. A primary store means
that your mail is delivered to the Inbox in that file and all of your other
default Outlook folders, such as Calendar, Contacts, Deleted Items, Journal,
Notes, Sent Items, and Tasks reside there. A .pst file can be also be
defined as a secondary store, meaning you can move items to it, either
manually or with Inbox Rules, from your primary store.

Each .pst file can contain 16,384 folders and each folder can contain a
maximum of 16,384 subfolders. If you select the option to "Allow upgrade to
large tables," each folder can contain up to 65,536 subfolders. The total
file size of a .pst cannot exceed 2 Gigabytes (GB).

Assuming that you are the Exchange/Network administrator, I would push
strongly for a backup program designed for Exchange.

CommVault
ArcServe
BackupExec w/ Exchange module
NTBackup

In any event... see http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq_sec4.htm for more
information.
