When are there new messages?!?

Please forgive the crosspost.

I am fairly new to taking full-part in newsgroups...so this is probably a
dumb question, but hey, show me my ignorance. :-)

In the folders pane, where the subscribed newsgroups are listed, there is
usually a blue number representing the number of unread messages. Well, I
frequent the Visual Basic newsgroups, and sometimes leave Outlook Express on
one whilst I'm working. So, when I post a question to the group, or am
waiting for new posts to show, it is necessary to leave the group and
return, which takes considerable time.

So, at last, my question. How can Outlook Express be set to automatically
check for new messages in the newsgroups? Or did I not make any sense?

Tools > Accounts > highlight your news account > Properties > check box on
first page include this account when checking for messages.
