I had my new system with NT4 and BT Internet and it was heaven.

Then curiosity got the better of me and I opened Microsoft Outlook from
office 97 professional

Well this small step for man produced a giant leap for machine kind IT TOOK
OVER and now I get a message from my Microsoft messaging system when I try
to access my inbox saying

"The MAPI Spooler has shut down unexpectedly. Close all mail-enabled
applications before attempting to log on again."

I kind of regret opening the package in the first place.

A colleague has also been 'taken over' by Outlook and his machine works
from several locations and needs to support more than one mail system.

Help (give me a clue) what is my MAPI Spooler and how would I fix this
