Not sure which version of Outlook you are using but I would suggest you
replace the MAPI32.DLL file.

Outlook 97 - rename the file and copy the one found from CD.
Outlook 98 - rename the file and reinstall the message support
component.
Outlook 2000 - run FixMAPI and/or Detect and Repair.

Dear Neo
Your suggestion aroused my interest coz I had a similar problem you might be
able to help. The following is the message I posted few days ago with no
useful reply:

Dear NG Readers
I have tried posting this many places but couldn't get the solutions. I
would be grateful if you can help. I hope I am not in the wrong newsgroup.
The followings are my problems:

1.
After I installed IE5, my browsing (Explorer blowsing my HDD) became very
slow. I had uninstalled IE5 and restored IE4 and my browsing returned to
normal performance. I would wish I can use IE5. Can any of you advice me?

2.
I can't set my Outlook Express to become the default mail and news readers.
MS Outlook seems to always take over as the default mail reader by itself.
I also cannot set IE4 as my default browser; the setting kept lossing. I do
not have other Internet browser installed. Please let me know where can I
force the setting of default browser, mail and news readers, e.g. which
file. BTW, any way to integrate Outlook Express into MS Outlook 97?

3.
When saving a page in IE4 as HTML, it does not saves the pictures. It only
saves the picture links. Therefore, I will loss all the pictures when
opening the HTML file, e.g., from Word. Is this the limitation of IE4?
Does IE5 overcome this problem?

4.
When I insert picture, Ctrl+C, from the clipboard into Word (97) document.
It always insert it as "float over words". How can I set the default to
insert the picture not floating, i.e along with words?

Thank you very much.

Sincerely
EasyEasy

Please elaborate on the Windows 98 option which you mentioned in your post,
i.e. reinstalling the message support components. How to do that?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Faithfully

Neo,

I had the exact problem. I followed your advise and that resolved the
problem on both my desk top and my laptop. I too was installing the '97
version of Outlook.

Thanks for the info/help!!!!
