Operating system: Windows XP Home

Internet connection: Blueyonder broadband via LAN card

I have just installed Office XP Professional and decided
to switch from Outlook Express to Outlook 2002 as my e-
mail client.

The automatic migration seemed to go ok but when I used
the "Test Account Settings" button on my default
connection it failed one of the five tests - it would not
log onto the incoming mail server (POP3). But it did send
the e-mail as I could receive it OK in Outlook Express.

If I use the Send/ Receive option in Outlook it
successfully and sends anything in my Outbox and logs on
to my other POP3 accounts. However, when it comes to
incoming it presents the account/ password dialogue box
and I cannot get it to accept what I type in.

I have examined the settings of somebody with a similar
setup to mine I can see nothing immediately apparent as
to why he can but I cannot.

Is there a setting that I'm missing?

Are you connecting to exchange server? Try entering the username in
domain\user format.

Try making a new profile (control panel, mail icon) and see if you can
connect if you set up the account yourself.

Not using Microsoft Exchange Server if that's want you
mean. Have tried creating an account from new with the
same result.
