If installed Outlook 2000 from the MS Ofiice 2000 professional. It works
perfect, but every time I close the program I get an error. The program is
then already closed. The error says:

Outlook caused an error in
KERNEL32.DLL.
Outlook is now being closed.

When I close this error window it will open again, and so on. It will not
disappear till I restart the computer. Does anyone what causes this problem,
and how I can solve it. Are there any updates availible that will prevent my
computer from giving this massage?

Thanks in advance,

NielsNV

Don't get too excited:-) Just wanted to let you know I also have this
problem and got no responses to my query either.

Are you running Active Sync for a Palm device or similar? Thought this
might be interatcting on my system but haven't proved it one way or the
other yet.
Regards
Peter

This is scary, I have been using Microsoft Office on Windows 98 for over a
year with no problems at all. I also use Outlook as my Email handler. Just
recently I have had to reformat my C: drive and re-install all my
software. I now get the very same error when closing Outlook.

The error I get is:

OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 017f:bff9db61.

I have discovered a workaround for my instance of this problem.

I installed Nortons Crashguard to see if I could get any more useful
information for this problem. The next time I exited fom outlook and for
some strange reason I do not understand, Outlook displayed an error message
saying that it had a previous problem with Outlook Synchronisation. (Never
saw it before I installed Crashguard) It asked if I wanted to disable it.
I said yes and now the problem of the kernel error on exit from Outlook no
longer occurs!

You can get to the setting by going into Outlook
Tools/Options/Other/Advanced/Coms Add Ins to either enable or disable this.

Hope this helps.

Its back...........it reappeared (once only) after I disabled active
desktop, then disappeared as a problem until I reinstated active desktop.
The problem reappeared once then disappeared again?????????????

Can't help but will be glad when there is a resolution as I am getting it as
well as have others I've seen on this group.

Have seen some references to McAfee Virus checker. However, I do not use
it.
The problem comes and goes with me. If I make a change such as enable
active desktop this seems to make it come back after not being there for a
while????? I have also seen a reference to Winfax. Apparently Version 10
currently is not supported with Office XP. Could be a problem with the
Outlook address book synchronisation?

I'll keep a watch on this thread to see if any other suggestions are made.
Good Luck!

FWIW, I've been using WinFax Pro 10 with Office XP/Outlook 2002 for a
long time with no problems at all.

I joined your elite group last week. My problems started
when I relied on ZD net's Updates.com to update my
software. Added security patches and updated Office 2K and
have this same error ever since. If anyone has a fix for
this, PLEASE RESPOND!!
