You can set up an AutoText entry called AddressLayout to tell Word which
fields to pick up from Outlook.
If you don't set uip such an autotext entry, then Word uses the following
default lookup string:
<PR_GIVEN_NAME> <PR_SURNAME>
<PR_STREET_ADDRESS>
<PR_LOCALITY>, <PR_STATE_OR_PROVINCE> <PR_POSTAL_CODE>
<PR_COUNTRY>
As you can see, the default string includes the country field.

Long time no hear! How does it work when you use Outlook Express? (and
don't tell me I'm hosed!). Or better yet, how can I get my address book
from Outlook Express into Outlook? Been meaning to look into this for quite
sometime. Hope you can help.
Thanks

You're hosed (sorry, but true). Word only works with MAPI Address Books, and
OE is not MAPI <sigh>

Best place to get the best informtion on this is an Outlook newsgroup - they
know all the ins-and-outs and gotchas. For a start, there are a couple of KB
articles:

Sorry for the post, but I tried to mail Milly directly and it was returned.
I just opened my Address Book (from inside Outlook Express) and clicked on
"File", "Export", and was given three choices - Address Book, Business Card,
Other Address Book. If I chose Address Book, all it does is give me a File
Dialog box with the .wab as the only file type. If I select "Other Address
Book", I am given two options - Microsoft Exchange Personal Address Book,
and Text File (Comma Separated Values).
I do not see the option you stated. Did I do something wrong during
original install?
Thanks again for the help. Please reply directly!

Hey, that's OK. It's a common problem/question, so I'm sure many people are
interested in the discussion :-) (And most MVPs would prefer to stay in the
NGs, not e-mail)

| Thanks but I did a detect and repair and got a fix from the Office Site
about problems concerning
| vcards when IE5.01 is installed.
<PR_DISPLAY_NAME>{, <PR_TITLE>}
{<PR_COMPANY_NAME>
}<PR_POSTAL_ADDRESS>
The job title and Company Name only display if they are not blank so it
works quite well for both personal and business contacts, with no blank
lines. The Postal Address field displays Country only if it is not my
own so that works well too. My only gripe now is that I can't get the
Personal title e.g. Mr. to display. I guess we must be a little more formal
in the UK.

I had been annoyed, too, by Microsoft's total inability to have the Outlook
and the Word development teams sit together for once and agree on which
Outlook fields should be acknowledged by Word and vice versa. Ain't y'all
know nuthin' about formality any more out there in Oregon? :-)
Anyhow, I finally invented my own, private method to retain our totally
"out" formality. I put all my Misters, Misses, Doctors, Professors and other
assorted totally unnecessary titles in one of those Outlook fields that I
never use for its intended purpose, and then I simply add that field as a
<PR_............> item into my "AdressLayout" thing in Word. In my
particular case the "Office" field on the second tab of the Outlook Contacts
form turned out to be perfectly usable for this little ruse!
Grant me, Sir, the favour of permitting me to express to you my most cordial
and sincerest regards,
Johannes
(always totally serious?????)
