There can be various possible reasons for this problem:
漂our message size is too large.
百ome Outlook add-in
柊uthentication with the mail server is not done properly or mail server
is offline.
疋efault mail account has not been set
柊ntivirus or firewall installed in your system
肘nstalled programs(such as:Desktop Search) that accesses the Outlook
data files
柊n antispam or antivirus scan is running on outgoing mails.

The most probable reason is the size of your message to be sent or the
attachment is of huge size. In such case reduce the size and try re
sending. I hope this will fix the issue.

Thanks for replying Amanda.

I've followed the fileAccount Setting and double click instruction and
there is nothing that indicates a cache option. I checked in the
Advanced setting as well.
I don't really want to delete the .pst file as I will lose all my
emails.
I've renamed the file and a new .pst has been created. I've run the
rule as you've recommended. Sadly this hasn't worked.

Try using Outlook in safe mode.

• Go to StartAll ProgramsAccessoriesRun.
• Type in “outlook /safe” (without quotes and space between “outlook”
and “/”)
• click OK
• Go to the location:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\
and Rename outcmd.dat , Outlook.srs files
• restart Outlook.

I hope it would help.

Thanks Amanda but it doesn't address the problem. It only occurs after
the computer has been asleep for a while and when reactivated in Outlook
the last message to arrive is displayed rather than the inbox. I like to
screen new mail so would rather it weren't in my face when I come back
to the computer!

Not good news, Amanda. I've tried what you've suggested and still the
same result. I don't know if this will make a difference, but I can
manually create rules and from each individual email, I can give the
command "always move to" but it's the management of the rules that still
only flashes up.
Thanks again for trying to help.
