I have a client who uses Symantec ACT! for contact management and wanted to
use a simple client to access E-Mail with ACT. ACT is capable of accessing
Internet Mail, Exchange, Outlook 98 or 2K as a client. When we try internet
mail (ACT's client) it apparently is not capable of accessing mail from the
clients mail server (Eudora WorldServer I believe). Outlook 98 is able to
send and receive E-Mail but keeps crashing the system. Every time the inbox
is checked the Operations reporting dialog displays (yes I turned it off in
Outlook, but is shows up anyway).

I'm tempted to try Exchange but I can't run the client (MAPI error displays,
window locks). I thought about going to Outlook 2K but the client is
hesitant given his OL98 experiences.

Has anyone had any experience with similar problems??? any help would be
very welcome.

Several, the most prevalent is an out of resources error. We updated the
Mapi3.dll and that reduced the incidents. There have also been crashes
related to the .fav file. We performed the fix from the MS knowledge base
for that, but they still occur.

What's the size & date of your MAPI32.DLL file now? Also, do you have
multiple ones around?

Panda Antivirus folder) is 713 K the path is C:\PAVFN\PLATINUM\PAVFN\

128kb created June 18 v.1.0.2536.0. I will have the client check if
others are present.

OK, try renaming all of them (to something like MAPI32.DLX) then reinstall
the mail mode component of Outlook (which ever mode you're already using).
See if it helps. Multitudes of MAPI32's can cause all sorts of havok.
