Office 2003 on XP

Outlook is refusing to create a new folder, but at a previous job, I know I
had more.

What type of email account? What exactly happens when you try? Are you
creating a new pst file or just folders within your current message store?

I'm allowed to go through the process, but after I have typed my new folder
name, I get an error message saying it could not create the folder and it
exits the create new folder function.

Hit Ctrl+6 to go to the folder list - do you see the folder there?

All Ctrl+6 did was go to the folder list, which was already open, and no the
folder wasn't there. By the way, the folder creation getting the error is a
sub-folder, not that it makes much difference.

It also seemed to create two links at the bottom of the list that allow you
to look at folder sizes. Can these links be hidden again?

When I look at the folder sizes, there are tabs for local & remote. The
folder I want the new folder in shows up on both tabs and are slightly
different sizes.

OK, I think it is an Exchange Server.

Tools->E-mail Accounts, opens a wizard. Select View/change accounts and that
is where it says Exchange.
