Outlook Today

Does anyone know how to add item to Outlook today? I'm trying to add a
public folder calander to Outlook Today, and can't.

Depends on your version. For Outlook 97 and 98 you build a web page and put
the url or path in a registry entry. Then your page replaces the original
page. You can get a copy of the original by using the following entry in
your IE browser and saving the source of the page:

res://c:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlwvw.dll\outlook.htm

You can then edit this source to include anything you want. The problem is
that you want to make sure that any links on the page that go outside of
your network open in a new window. General links open in the outlook window
where Outlook Today should be.

I had to look for a month to find this. It was in the Microsoft Outlook 98
Deployment Kit documentation. I don't know the URL, but may be able to
search microsoft for it.

Now I am trying to find the info for 2000, the old page doesn't work quite
right, and now there are more original pages to choose from. If you find
any thing please tell me.

Just out of curiosity I tried your suggestion. It does not work. Any time I
call up the URL you gave i get a "The page cannot be displayed..." message.
Is there anything wrong with the spelling of the URL?

Thanks for the reply. In fact, it should be ""res://C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office\outlwvw.dll/outlook.htm", or, in my particular
case, "res://C:\Programme\Microsoft Office\Office\outlwvw.dll/outlook.htm",
as I am using the German version of OL. Watch the quotation marks, and it
does not make any difference whether there is a space between DLL and the
slash or not.

This is all very well, but on my system the page shows only in "no pictures"
mode - in spite of the fact that the browser is set to show graphics.

As I said, I'm in no need to do that at all, but still it makes me curious.
What is really going on here?

I think the last time I did this I needed to "pull" the images out of the
dll and save them in the same file as the extracted .htm.
A right-click on the red X and properties will tell you the name of the gif
you need to extract. same path as the htm would be used to extract an image
with outlook.htm replaced by the gif name.
btw: In Outlook2000 (if you are using it) an extracted page seems to run
quite well as a folder home page outside the dll.
