Can I get help on here for Outlook Express and, if not,
does anyone know where I can? Many thanks.

This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
outlook express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x

A good website for information on OE is:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/

Outlook Express automaticall removes all attachments
as "potentially unsafe". How can I prevent OE from
removing attachments?

Next time you will have more luck in posting to a Outlook Express group as
this is for Outlook, totally different program.

To solve your problem, while you are in OE, go to TOOLS-->OPTIONS-->SECURITY
and the 4th box from the top needed to have the check mark removed. This one
is called "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened......."
Then you should be able to open whatever is attached. Just be careful on
what you click !

We purchased a Sony Vario notebook from Circuit City.
Everything seems to be okay, except when I try to load
Outlook it prompts me to insert the MS Office Standard
Edition 2003. I can't find the disk anywhere. I don't
know if it was left out of the box or I have missplaced
it. Either way I can't get to Outlook Express without
this disk. I have a hard copy of MS Office Professional
2002. Can I use this disk instead or can I obtain
another one from Microsoft? I have a lot of Microsoft
software. Can anyone help.

Thanks

That;s normal. You can't expect to use a program without installing it
fisrt.

Either way, contact Sony.

Nonsense. Outlook and Outlook Express are two completely different
programs. Outlook Express comes built in to any modern Windows version.

You can install any legally license program on your computer.

I am running Outlook Express version 6.0.2800.1123 on
Windows XP. For some reason OE takes a long time (30
seconds to 1 minute) to open (when it does open). Other
times it won't open at all, and after 2 minutes gives me
a single beep. The only way for me to open OE when that
happens is to reboot the machine. Can anyone help?

Hi

I'm having trouble with my Outlook Express. I keep
getting messages to say that there is an Incoming Call -
I'm asked either to answer it (which disconnects me from
the Internet) or to Cancel. There is no incoming call
and it often happens too quickly for me to press Cancel
and so I am disconnected.

Can anyone help??

Thanks

When I try to respond to an email address embeded in a
message, the computer locks up monmetarily and then I
receive a message, "Could not perfrom this operation,
because the client email server is not properly
installed."

Outside of reloading Outlook express and losing all
messages, is there any way to repair this problem?

Hi
Although this newsgroup doesnt really cover Outlook
Express, you should be able to change the settings by
doing the following:

Go to Tools, Options, and click on the Maintenance tab,
then click on Store, this will then allow you to change
the location of where messages are stored.

Hope this helps

OE doesn't have that function in Mail.

BTW, This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003 from the Office suite of products.
Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar
name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such
as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
(for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as
http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product
Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?
icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the
plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express
group for that
version number. Good luck!

In OLE goto TOOLS - OPTIONS then choose the security tab. Uncheck the box
that says "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus" I could be off a little on the wording. Once
unchecked click APPLY and OK and then close and reopen OLE and you should
have access to attachments. Make sure you have antivirus and you keep it
updated. This was a new security feature added to OLE 6.0

I use Outlook Express but intend to change to a newer
version. When trying to save folders I have compressed
them but when I am told to 'locate them' for copying to a
backup disc, I cannot do this. I have tried the search
engine using .dbx but without success. I note that it is
in an folder called Application data but cannot locate
that either!!

Have mistakenly blocked some senders. Am trying to
unblock using the topic help in O/L Express. The
intructions are:

To unblock someone who is not online:
1. In O/L Express, click the TOOLS menu, point to the
name of your messenger service (????How does one do
this??) and then click OPTIONS.

2. Click the Privacy Tba

3.

When I reply to a message in Outlook Express 6, it
automatically indents and usually sends my cursor to the
bottom of the message. I then have to put my cursor at
the top of the page before typing my reply. It is very
annoying. I have been through tools/options/send tab;
and have check and unchecked many different options.
Nothing is working. I would appreciate any help.

No, but I am having the very same problem. In fact, none
of my saved emails have anything in the body either.
This is very disturbing as I have some very important
information in some of my emails that I cannot see. Any
