This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program, despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/

I am trying to set-up an auto response to emails I
receive from clients, while I am out of town. I want them
to receive a message telling them I am out of town. I
tried the message rules, but it only attaches to the
email message, it is not in the text of the email.
Thanks!

PLease send me an E-mail. My Outlook Express is having
problems when I switch Identities. I have to reboot my
computer. When I go to Switch Identities the window
opens, I select the other identity and click OK. The
main identity closes and then the window should open to
select the other identity. This window opens only if I
have recently rebooted by computer. If I haven't rebooted
in a while (sometimes just minutes, sometimes longer)The
window closes and nothing happens. When I then go to my
Start and then click on Outlook from there... I get an
hour glass and then the hour glass goes away. How can I
correct this. I have Windows XP. Comcast says they have
nothing to do with it and don't seem to understand.
Please advise, by E-mail LK...@comcast.net

Thanks, Linda

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000 & 2002 from the Office
family for Intel PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in one of
these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx?ICP=GSS3&NewsGroup=microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx?ICP=GSS3&NewsGroup=microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx?ICP=GSS3&NewsGroup=microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.internet.mail.mac for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx?ICP=GSS3&NewsGroup=microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source

for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

I just switched from Windows Me to XP pro, and Outlook
Express won't allow me to open certain attachments,
including Word documents. Is this some sort of anti virus
screening? How do I over-ride this feature?
Thanks,

T,

Wrong newsgroup for OE, but, Tools>options>security tab> uncheck "do not
allow attachments to be saved or opened which could potentially be a virus".
You might also want to uncheck "read in plain text" in the read tab.

And yes it is, for your protection.
