"TIA for any help" - with what???

Several things you fail to mention:
version of Outlook, and if 98 or 2000, the mode.
the mail account(s) installed, IMAP, POP3, SMTP, whatever?
What authentication protocol your ISP requires?

Perhaps some basic information would be helpful rather than hoping for a
shot in the dark with no details.

When posting an Outlook problem, please give the version year and mode. (See
Help->About, second line in Outlook 98 or 2000 for the mode, Internet Mail
Only or Corporate or Workgroup.) Post all questions/replies to the
newsgroups, unsolicited mail is deleted without reading.

relax, i'm new to this!

outlook 2002
OS=win2k
i have a pop account (pipex) and a http account (hotmail)
no authentication protocol needed.
log on thru LAN (at home, just 3 computers connected) thru cable modem.

i have added all of my various problems to this post.

i have followed the wizard for installing a hotmail account on outlook 2002
(win2k), it works but it won't stay connected, even tho i have broadband.
this is annoying when viewing and/or deleting!
please help

also kept getting this:

Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error
(0x800CCC19) : 'A timeout occurred while communicating with the server.'

plus these at other times:

Task 'pop.dial.pipex.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x8004210B) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the
sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your
server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Task 'pop.dial.pipex.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x800CCC0B) : 'Unknown Error 0x800CCC0B'

Task 'pop.dial.pipex.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0B) : 'Unknown
Error 0x800CCC0B'

thanks

I am getting the exact same error messages (only when trying to SEND
mail):

Task '(My Account) - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The

operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP)
server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Task '(My Account) - Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x800CCC0B) : 'Unknown Error 0x800CCC0B'

I'm using MS Outlook XP (2002 - 10.2627.2625) on WinXP Pro build 2600.

ALL other POP3/SMTP accounts don't work also, and I'm absolutely sure
there is no SMTP configuration errors. My SMTP server requires
authentication (using same settings as my incoming mail server).

ALL of the accounts work correctly in MS Outlook Express 5.0 / 5.5 /
6.0 but many of the users here use MS Outlook XP to read and send
e-mails.

I applied all patches (including Office XP SP1) on some of the
machines but it STILL DOESN'T WORK).

I have seen many similar posts with NO SOLUTION AT ALL. Does anyone
have a DEFINITIVE solution to this??? This is my THIRD attempt to seek
support in these newsgroups with no success at all.

I just realized something. The mail actually got sent the FIRST time
right after I opened Outlook XP. Tried to send another one and the
same timeout error message reappeared. What the heck is going on???

I tried the "Test Account" option, and there is no errors whatsoever.

Many of our users and clients (including myself) are getting pissed
off with Microsoft's increasing INCOMPETENCE (along with the so-called
"MVP"s... Are you guys ANY GOOD AT ALL??? I think NOT...)

My goodness. You seem to think insults are appreciated here. They are not.
You seem to assume that every issue a user might encounter is already
documented and has a known solution. They are not.
We have no more information than you do. A simple search of the KB will
reveal that your problem has no documentation there. The only similar
problem I've seen is related to the SP1 patch. Once it's applied, some users
have had to reset their firewall so that mail retrieval requests are
recognized and sent. We'll keep looking for other solutions. You might want
to do the same.
