You don't say what kind of corruption, but my system crashed, then outlook
opened empty folders.
I searched for *.pst and found a file of about 40 megs in the Norton
antivirus quaranteen folder. Found out it had a virus.
We eliminated the virus and my personal folders worked again.

My father's pst file is a little over 2GB and he can no longer access it via
Outlook. I told his IT people they may be able to edit the file to get it
under the 2GB limit, but I need to provide them more instructions on how to
go about doing so.
I attempted to open one of my own pst files using a hex editor (A.X.E.), but
had no clue how to go about reducing the size that way. Even so, it took a
long time for the file to open and the size of my paging file needed to be
increased in order to open the file. The size of my pst is just 127
MB...how in the world can you open a 2GB file in order to edit it and reduce
its size? Are there other options for being able to retrieve the data?
Dad's pretty desperate to get his info back...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
(Sorry about cross-posting to two newsgroups...if this is a "no-no", please
advise...)
