I use Outlook Express as my mail server. When I try to
send or receive email I get an Error Message

"The connection has failed... Socket Error: 10060. Error
Number: 0x800CCC0E".

I have no problem accessing the Internet. I cannot find
this info in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Any help would
be appreciated. TIA

Good luck, still waiting for the answer to what this code
means, 800ccc0d and ti's in the same class as yours, and
yet MS denies that MSOE even produces that code... no
answer, no surprise...

I live in the country and I'm forced to use Pioneer Telephone Internet service via satellite. I used to have 1,000 emails (or recipients) per day limit when it was just Pioneer. Then Google bought (or partnered with) Pioneer and they cut me down to 100 emails (or recipients) per day. I can't operate with such a small limit because I send emails to 415 of my former coworkers and 260 emails to classmates, not to mention personal individual emails and Daily Devotionals I send daily to about 200 people at three churches. So my son-in-law, who had bought his own domain (jerryashford.com) set up an email address for me (joe...@jerryashford.com) that has no limitations, for me to just send my mass emails. This has worked fine until recently when I started getting this message:

The connection to the server has failed.

Subject 'Obituary For Former Kerr-McGee Employee John Fisher '
Server: 'mail.jerryashford.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): Yes
Socket Error: 10060

The jerryashford.com domain uses port #26 for Outgoing (SMTP) mail and port #465 for Incoming (POP) mail Although I have changed nothing in this account I started getting this message out of the clear blue and I've tried changing the SMTP port from 26 to 587, as suggested in this forum and that doesn't work. I tried turning on Telnet Server, also suggested in this forum, and that doesn't work either. I have verified all the settings I'm using for this account with the jerryashfod.com domain and they are all correct. Any suggestions? I MUST be able to use this account for my mass emails since Google is so stingy with their use. Joe Morgan - Piedmont, OK (Oklahoma City)
