Outlook 2007; Search feature not working at all`

I just installed Outlook on this computer. My other computers the search
works great but this one will not even bring the simpliest search even one
hit. I did not see any issues like this in the forum or KB.

I did install the latest update on Oultlook: 12.0.6023.500
using Vista Ultimate, build 6000
on Dell P4, duel core processor
phy memory 2 GB
Vir memory 4 GB
page file: 2 GB

I also cannot do any searches in Outlook 2007 with Vista Ultimate. I've seen
a few posts about this and am suprised to not see any answers from Microsoft.
Search is a pretty basic feature to be as broken as it apparently is...
