created new individual .pst files in folder on 'd' drive, then removed
outlook.pst to desktop folder and renamed. then deleted backup (bak)
(have 1 week old copy on removable)...then imported files back in to
outlook...thought i was gold...but two things: 1. same problem with
backup and 2. notice that calendar et al aren't synchronizing with
palm pilot....want to delete current .pst and redo import....did disk
search but cannot find new .pst anywhere, not in application
data/microsoft/outlook or anywhere else ...weird...any ideas?-

Import and Export is a poor way to back up PST files. Each time you do it
you invite data corruption. Use Import and Export only when you need to
convert your PST file to some other format.
For backup purposes, simply save PST files to another location to reuse if
necessary.
Corporate Mode: (With Outlook closed)
- Control Panel > Mail applet
- Remove the current Personal Folder service
- Readd the service, directing it to the new PST file location
- Restart Outlook
tomorrow i go into office and have to make decison what to do. do i
just put the original 'outlook.pst' back into the 'outlook folder' and
hope that outlook recognizes it and doesn't duplicate the info that is
already in outlook?
i am an intermediate user and am stymied by all this...also don't
understand all your suggestions because i don't have particluar files
or folders.
i do appricate your interest and support throughout.
