I created an email using voting buttons where respondents would have to
select a a date for the training/s they'd like to attend. The sent message
was tracking the results at first, but after I created a rule having the
server send an automatic confirmation of registration, the tracking ceased.
I still get emails with the selected dates, but they are not appearing on the
tracking tab.

Provided the messages are arriving with the tracking info intact (some
internet mail servers strip it), it sounds like the rule is affecting the
ability of outlook to track it. You aren't moving the vote message to a
different folder are you? It needs to stay in the inbox.

Well, I did move the message. That's got to be the problem. Thank you for
your assistance.

Is it also true that the original email (requesting the vote) should stay in
the Sent folder?

Yes, it must remain in the sent folder for tracking to work. (applies to
read receipts, voting and any other tracking options available)

I sent 2 messages (5 minutes apart) with Voting option. One message is
tracking ok and while the other message is not. Both sent messages are still
in the Sent folder and all responses to both email messages are in the Inbox.
Can Outlook track multiple messages at the same time or only 1 message at a
time?

it handles multiple voting messages - were both responses in RTF format? if
you open the responses that aren't tracking, are they finally processed?

Everyone who received both messages responded by clicking the Yes/No button
(no comments were added). I have opened all the responses to each message
and they are still not processed. Very odd.

Right, i've tried moving the original messages back to :
my message with voting buttons (and some response information) back to sent
items and I've put all the responses back into the Inbox but it hasn't worked
on the old ones I've just moved back OR new ones coming in.

Please help

Diane,

I have the problem of some of the e-mails from the same server are not
showing on the "Tracking" Tab.

The original e-mail is in the "Sent Items" the responses are in the "Inbox."
I have opened each response. Some show on the Tracking some do not. All of
the responses have come from the same domain and approximately with in a 15
minute period.

Is there any way to force Outlook to recalculate or update again...or is
this a one time operation?

Not working for me either. This is so frustrating.

Tracking is "broken" once you move the sent email out of your sent folder or
use Rules to move incoming messages.

Start again and do not move any of the messages.

I wish there was a way to re-calculate the voting tracking
I wish it was clear you needed to keep sent files in the Sent folder, and
replies in the Inbox. Now I know...

I wish everybody attended comprehensive Outlook training and that IT support
people in large organisations also did some training to understand what
users do "wrong" inadvertently. Ah but that would be far too perfect.

I know this is an old post but I am having this same issue that the vote is not processing unless i open the response. It was working fine that it would tally the results at all times but now it will not tally unless i open the response from in the inbox. Then it will show in the tracking. Not sure what happened to this to make it stop working. Any help??

I'm having this same issue. Any suggestions as to fix the apparent broken tracking?

Same problem now with Outlook 365. Message is in Sent and responses are in Inbox... No success so far. Looks like there are many variables out of my control that can influence the success of the use of voting buttons, like Internet Mail Servers cutting of headers etc. Also interesting to see the suggestions for proper training on something that should be intuitive to use. Anyway, will try and find another mechanism to get me what I need.

What happens if I moved the email to another folder and then moved it back to sent items - is there anyway to fix the issue or must I do a manual count? :(

Thank you & stay safe.

It's a bit disappointing that this 'move the mail then you lose the vote tracking' issue has still not been fixed after so many years. Isn't this something worth fixing?

I am having the same issue. This is crazy!! Now I need to track everyone's voting response manually. It stopped after 31 replies tracking. So very frustrating! Especially when this thread starting in 2005!!!
