If you aren't on an Exchange server, your options are limited, but see if

You should make regular backups of all your data, including your PST
file(s), so you can recover more easily/reliably in the future, should this
happen again.
If you're on an Exchange server configured for deleted item retention, and
can't get the items back in tools | recover deleted items, you may have
hard-deleted them - see if
