When I use my basic internet e-mail I can view an e-mail, hold down the
control key and veiw another e-mail and keep viewing more e-mails until I
decide to save or delete the e-mails.

I can't do this in my Outlook 2002 (I am a new user). Can I adjust some
type of setting to allow me to do that?

No. Outlook only displays the first selected message in the preview pane.
You can use control to select multiple messages - either with the mouse or
arrow, space bar combo.

I'm using outlook 2002 to access my hotmail account. Recently, every time I
open any folder (inbox, sent mail, etc.) it always opens the folder in
internet explorer as well. I updated to the new version of Internet Explorer
does that have anything to do with it? How do I fix this?

So are you going to tell us if this is a free or paid Hotmail account?

Free Hotmail accounts must use HTTP to access the Hotmail servers.
Microsoft dropped WebDAV access to non-legacy free accounts and switched
to Deltasync for their protocol. That means you cannot connect using
OL2002 to a free Hotmail account. The Outlook Connector add-on
available for download from Microsoft does NOT support OL2002 (only
OL2003 and OL2007).

Hard to tell why you have those problems since it is unknown to what
type of Hotmail account you attempt to connect and how you are
connecting to it.

No it isn't the free account. It's their premium service.

Does that mean you are using POP/SMTP protocols to connect to your
Hotmail Plus account?

What *is* the "new version of Internet Explorer"? The latest released
version is 7.

Have you yet tried starting Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe
/safe") to not load add-ons when you start Outlook? If the problem goes
away, you have an add-on causing the problem.

When you right-click on a folder in Outlook, look at Properties, and
check the Home Page tab, is that field empty or does it contain a URL?
Mine are blank.
