This started about Oct. 15, and I switched to Thunderbird as a mail client,
and thought the upgrade to 2007 would siolve the problem, but it has not. I
have no problems in Thunderbird, but I perfer using Outlook. Any ideas as to
why and what I can do to solve the problem?

Let me know if that helps you or not.

Copy and paste the error message. Do not describe it. Do not
summarize it. Show it.
With the actual error message, my guess is that you must now
authenticate to their SMTP server. It is a configuration setting in
the e-mail account(s) that you defined in Outlook.

So did enabling authentication to your SMTP server in the e-mail
account defined in Outlook help to get rid of the error?
"e-mail account defined in Outlook"
Go into the email account that you defined in Outlook.
"enabling authentication to your SMTP server"
Select the option to enable authentication to your SMTP server. It's
under the Outgoing Server tab (after you click the More Settings
button) for the SMTP settings.
I still use OL2002. Navigate through menus and tabs in your version
may differ.
