Outlook lets me know when another program is trying to access the information
stored in Outlook. Usually, I know it is my law firm's time and billing
software trying to syncronize appointments and contact information. However,
sometimes, I just don't know for sure who or what is accessing outlook. It
would be really helpful if Outlook could tell me WHAT program is trying to
access outlook or the source of the request, so I would know if it is
friendly or not.

There are third-party tools to do that -- see http://www.outlookcode.com/d/sec.htm#tools
