When I try to access my exchange account away from the office I get the
following messsage:

"There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate. The
security certificate is not from a trusted certifying authority. Outlook is
unable to connect to the proxy server xxxx.xxxxxxx.com (error code 8)"

I updaed the certificate but still having the problem

How did you update it? Is the cert from a reseller or created by the
exchange server/proxy server? If its self created you need to publish it on
the local computer and trust it.

Is your company using a trusted certificate or a self-signed certificate?
If it is a trusted certificate, check Windows Update and make sure you have
the update for root certificates applied. When using Windows XP, you'll see
this update when choosing Custom.
