Hello all,

In Outlook 2007 in the Trust Center, under Programmatic Access, I
choose "Never warn me about suspicious activity" however, when my
billing software (MYOB 2008) tries to send e-bills, Outlook sure
enough warns me... not only does it nag me per e-mail, but has a 5
second delay until I can answer allow. How can I eliminate this
entirely? After a few delays, my MYOB crashes, and their support only
suggests sending just a few at a time to avoid crashing. This is a
horrible situation. Is there no way to just purge this warning out of
existence? Has it become that Outlook is no longer able to be used as
a MAPI interface without this nuisance?

PLEASE help!

Sounds like the support or devs of MYOB are horrible as that security
feature exists since approx. six to eight years.

If they can't get their software working with that, this tool might help
you:

the problem is that the MYOB developers didn't take the time to properly
write their program so it avoids the prompts. This prompt has been around
since the summer of 2000, there is no excuse for the programmers not fixing
their program.

I've tried using this mapilab program but it doesn't seem to have any
effect. It is not intercepting the warning - rather, Outlook is still
intercepting and warning me.

What exactly do I need to tellb MYOB in terms of their code? Many many
people use that application I cannot conceive that I'm the only one
using Outlook. And the emailing invoices is not a very old feature, it
was definitely developed well after 2000.

Consider the possibility something else could be wrong? Is there a
registry location I might look for the setting that tells Outlook
whether or not to warn me?

Thanks.

Why does the trust center have a radio button offering me to opt to
never be warned about suspicious activity if Outlook is going to go
ahead and warn me anyway?

The one has nothign to do with the other. Since many years some properties
(e.g. e-mail addresses) are blocked, and there's never been a registry
setting to turn that off.

If you want to contact the devs, this site lists everything they should
know:

http://outlookcode.com/article.aspx?id=52

They can either re-write the code, and use C++ or Delphi and ExtendedMapi,
which likely is no option, or they use Redemption from www.dimastr.com,
which is a COM wrapper for many, many ExtendedMapi functions.

Hi Atreju,

I find Diane's response slightly amusing - I've had exactly the same problem
when trying to do a mail merge from a little know program called Microsoft
Word 2007! Admittedly we are using it as part of a CRM package, namely
Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0! Quite a chuckle...

Like you, I found that the Trust Center settings apparently had no effect,
whether manually applied or set through Group Policy. The mapilab program did
nothing either.

The resolution I eventually found was to apply a Microsoft hotfix then edit
the registry:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953925
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953806

The PromptSimpleMAPISend setting is the applicable one.

Be aware that this may open up the machine to some other exploit, although
as per Microsoft's own guidelines (and the supposed default behaviour of
Outlook), as long as your anti-virus and anti-spam software is up to date
then it shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this helps.

Lol - I've just seen my post appear twice, despite being assured on both
occasions that an error occurred and it didn't go through succesfully...

Oh well. I guess if the technology worked perfectly every time we'd all be
out of a job!
