a friend of mine works for a large corp. and has his outlook as a web based
program so that he can access his contacts and e-mail from anywhere. is this
a different program that i can sign up for or is this only because his
company is spending big buck with microsoft?

Outlook Web Access is a function of Microsoft Exchange Server. If you have
access to Exchange at work, ask your admin for the credentials to connect
from outside the organization.

As for the "spending the big buck" with Microsoft, it is a normal practice
for corporations using Exchange to enable this. Even SBS (~$600) will
enable this. Does this count as "big buck?"
