Are these paid Hotmail accounts? Are you using the MSN Outlook Connector or
the HTTP account type to connect to Hotmail?

I suspect they are the type you refer to as outlook connector, I have had
them for years and hotmail advised me because of the years of use i could
continue to use them via outlook rather than having to pay a fee

Alright, that's nice of them :-)

If you are using the MSN Outlook Connector you should have Outlook Connector
listed in your menu bar between Actions and Help. Also you should be able to
view your on-line Hotmail Contacts and Calendar then. If not; you're using
the HTTP connection that comes with Outlook 2003. When you have more than 1
Hotmail accounts configured in Outlook it's best that you exclude all except
one of them from the automatic send/receive group. You can do this in
Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Setup-> button Send/Receive...-> button Edit...

With the MSN Outlook Connector there shouldn't be any issue connection to
more than one account at a time. If it does try recreating your mail profile
in Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...
