O/S Windows 2000 Professional. Office 2000. Problem with
Outlook using 100% CPU. Have 384 meg RAM.

When I open Outlook, my CPU usage almost immediately goes
to 100%. This is not the case when using Excel, Access or
Word, or any other application, even with multiple, large
files open simultaneously.

Often the same scheduled appointments and tasks will pop
up multiple times, even though they may have
been "dismissed" or re-scheduled.

Going to Start/Search with search word Outlook, it appears
Outlook may be installed two, three or more times on my
computer. There are repeated filenames in C:\Documents and
Settings and C:\Program Files.

Would that explain the repetitious and redundant
appointments?

Can Outlook be "uninstalled" without losing Calendar,
Tasks and Contacts? Can Outlook be unstalled separately
from other Office programs?

Please advise,

Bob

I just moved off of Win2k with outlook 2000. i used to
have a similar problem from time to time. If i looked in
task manager (ctl+alt+del) I would see outlook.exe
running 2 or more times. i would then end all copies and
then restart outlook. it would usually take a while to
bring back up after the "hard kill", but then it was ok
after that. How multiple copies are running I am not
sure.

Hope this helps, Bob
