When previewing an email message in the reading pane, and this message is in
plain text, it is always shown as right aligned. Does anyone know how to
change this alignment to be context depended or at least have it always left
aligned ?

Version of outlook? Have you looked in tools, options, mail format,
stationery to see if an alignment was set there?

Running Outlook 2007, and yes looked in tools->Options->Mail format->

An excellent solution can be found here:
http://www.petri.co.il/correcting-email-display-direction-in-outlook.htm

Basically, you have to create a new email, click on the office globe in top
left
corner, choose 'editor options'. In 'Popular' tab click on 'Language Settings'
and in 'Primary editing language' drop down box choose English

Next time notice the datestamp of the post to which you reply. You
think YMB was sitting around for 4 years awaiting a response? (Picture
a skeleton slumped over a monitor.) Perhaps sort order in your
unidentified newsreader is screwed up and showing oldest to newest
instead of the other way around.
