How do I use the Contact folder as an address book?

I've read the help online and it looks really easy. However, when I go to
the tab where the option is to "show this folder as an e-mail Address Book",
the option is grayed out and is not available to change. What else do I
have to do? I have a user who cannot access her contacts folder this way
(neither can I) and we're going crazy! Help!

Yes - I did this - up to the point listed in #3 below. It will not let me
click in the box - the option is gray. We have Outlook 2000.
How to Mark Your Contact Folder for Use with Your Address Book
1.. In the Folder List, click to select the folder you would like to use
with the Address Book. If you do not see the Folder List, click Folder List
on the View menu.
2.. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Properties for your
folder name.
3.. On the Outlook Address Book tab, click to select Show this folder as
an e-mail address book, type a descriptive name, and then click OK.

What type of account. Is OL2000 configured as Internet Mail Only (second
line in "Help>About") or Corporate and Workgroup Mode? If the latter, do
you have the "Outlook Address Book" service in your mail profile? Click
Tools>Services and see. If not, add it.

I'll have to finish this another time - gotta find the cd's. (I have
replaced the former IT person here and am still 'hunting' for information)

Then these are the instructions you should use, the ones for Outlook 2000
C/W:
Go to Tools > Services. Make sure the Outlook Address Book service is
listed. If not, add it. Next, R click on the Contact folder or folders you
want the OAB to display, choose "Properties", go to the Outlook Address Book
tab and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box. You may
also need to go to Tools > Options > Addressing Tab and choose to show your
Contacts folder.
