I have found information on how to change the color of flags in Outlook, but
I have not found anything that allows for the change of the actual color that
is shown when you click on the flag created. It seems that even though I
might create a White flag, the color shown whne I click on it is the color of
the flag that I copied to create the white flag.

Is what I looking for even possible? if not why even give the option to
create a flag when you are stuck with the default colors?

Thanks,

Without any information on your Outlook configuration (like at least the
version of Outlook) and what exactly you are doing (steps to reproduce) it
is hard to give an answer to your question.

Hi,

Sorry about that, I made assumptions. My users are using Outlook 2003
connected to an Exchange 2003 sp2 server, and most users are running in cache
mode. Below are the steps I used to create different color flags.

1. In Outlook, right-click any toolbar, and then click Customize.
2. On the Toolbars tab, click New, and then, after you name the toolbar,
drag that toolbar to where you want it to be.
3. In the Customize dialog box, on the Commands tab, under Categories, click
Actions, and then drag a flag, such as the red flag, to the new toolbar.
4. Right-click the flag in the new toolbar, and then on the shortcut menu,
click Edit Button Image.

Those steps allow me to add flags of different colors, but the Highlight
color is still one of the default colors. So my question is can the Highlight
color be changed to match the new flag color?

If you need more info, please let me know.

Thanks,

No, that is not possible. The Toolbar display icon is separate from the
command that is behind it (which is to display a certain color of flag).

Thanks, do you know if this is still a limitation in O2K7 (Outlook 2007)?

In Outlook 2007 the model of flagging, categorizing and color coding emails
has been revised completely. Instead of color coding by flags, color coding
is now based on categories and yes, there are many more colors to choose
from now (25).

But can you grab a category colored box and put it on your toolbar and just
click on it while you're on an email line? I can't seem to be able to do
this. New to 2007. But used to be able to do this with the colored flags.
In other words, I would want like a yellow box to mean BIRDS and the red box
to mean DOGS (as an example). And when an email comes in about a poodle I
would click on the red category box.

You can assign keyboard shortcuts to categories or right-click the square
next to the flag icon to select your category of choice.
